Mr. A Paulic's Grade 5/6 Class
Welcome to Grade 5 and 6 at St. Joseph the Worker School! I hope that your summer was filled with many great adventures and special memories. If you need to get in contact with me at any time, my school email is mr.apaulic@gmail.com. You may also call the school and leave a message for me.

In order to show you what your child has been doing at school, I will be sending home a weekly newsletter with your child. This will include information about what they have been learning as well as some pictures. We will be starting this in October.
Some of your children may have been in a multi-age classroom last year, but to some it is a new concept. Students will receive an education that meets their individual needs, according to grade level. However, with the exception of English Language Arts (ELA) and Math, all subjects will be taught from the grade 5 curriculum. There will be an educational assistant in our room three days of the cycle who will assist in making sure that your child gets the best education possible.
There will be no homework sent home unless students have not completed their work in the allotted class time or I feel they need some extra practice at home. If your child is working at grade level and uses their class time wisely, they will not be sent home with any additional homework. The only work that I expect to be done at home is reading. There will be monthly book reports starting in October.
Although the expectations for students are almost the same throughout every class, I expect that students will do the following:
Come to school ready to learn.
Treat each other with respect.
Take responsibility for their mistakes.
Listen to instructions and follow directions.
Complete and hand in homework on time.
Try their best and take pride in their work.
Be proud in themselves and the work they accomplish.
There is a behaviour chart posted in the classroom as well as on the school website. This chart will be used in the classroom as well as around the school.
Arrival
Students enter the school at 8:45 am. At this time, students have ten minutes before the starting bell to remove their outerwear, unpack, organize themselves and hand-in any notes or messages.
Students arriving prior to 8:45 am are to remain outside where a supervisor is on duty from 8:30-8:45. If students need to access the classroom prior to the bell, they must be accompanied by a parent.
Dismissal
Students will be dismissed at 3:25 where you are encouraged to meet them outside. If you are going to be late to pick up your child, please call the office to inform the school. Your child will await your arrival in the office.
If someone other than yourself is picking up your child, please inform me in writing.
Communication
Each student will have a labeled mailbox located at the rear of the classroom. Each mailbox will include notes to go home, assignments, messages, or pertinent information. A few minutes at the end of the day is allotted for organization. At this time, each child will place the contents of their mailbox into their backpack.
Agendas will be used to enhance communication between home and school. Agendas will be filled out daily and must be returned signed every morning.
